Question
Can I deduct my commute to my W2 job if I can classify an area of my home as an office? Then it becomes trips between offices, which is deductible. I do this for my side business, with my office in the home going to my warehouse.
AI accountant’s answer:

Unfortunately, the IRS doesn't allow you to deduct commuting expenses between your home and your regular place of work, even if you have a home office. This is considered personal commuting, which is not deductible.

However, if you're traveling between two business locations, like your home office and your warehouse for your side business, that's a different story. Those travel expenses can be deductible because they're considered necessary for your business.

Remember, the key is that the travel must be for your business, not for your regular job. So, the commute to your W2 job wouldn't qualify, even with a home office.

Not Correct.
